Many big-hearted, wise and hard-working people are doing good work across this land to protect our waters. In no particular order, here is an incomplete list of their teams, and how they might be of assistance:
An Indigenous-led initiative that support Indigenous communities and organizations to plan, procure, own and manage their infrastructure assets on their lands.
Support Indigenous adults to become certified water treatment plant operators, Provide training programs that build technical skills and strengthen capacity for water and fish resource management, School water programming.
Assist Indigenous communities with regulatory advice, negotiation, relevant ecological supporting studies, ecological restoration and technical reviews.
A hub for research and collaboration around sustainable solutions to infrastructure challenges faced by indigenous communities.
AFNWA is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and capital upgrades of all water and wastewater assets in participating First Nations in Atlantic Canada.
Empower the voices of Indigenous Women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals in discourses around water governance.
Protect the land and water by exercising Indigenous sovereignty and applying the Spirit and intent of Treaty.
To help address water quality issues and for our safety, we must monitor our water to ensure its cleanliness and potability. To assist in the research and data collection, in 2019 the SCO launched a comprehensive Water Testing Program. The program reached 30 member Nations in the last year.
