Executive Leadership Team
Actively Building Our Board of Directors
The IWP is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act on July 18, 2018. An independent, First Nations-led organization with a similar model to that selected by the IWP is the First Nations Capital and Infrastructure Agency of Saskatchewan, whose governance and structure we admire.
The gender-balanced Board of Directors of the IWP will be comprised of leaders/Elders from representative Indigenous communities, water treatment experts, and advocacy leaders. Minimum 8 members. Members from different Indigenous nations will be chosen equitably, and Nation representation ensured. A co-leadership approach is adopted, to allow one Indigenous woman and one settler-descended woman to share the Directorship.
